Brockway Glass Co.

Brockwayville Machine Bottle Co.
Originally named Brockway Machine Bottle Company, Brockway Glass Co.'s roots lie in Brockway, Pennsylvania (the city was originally named "Brockwayville").

Timeline for the Brockway Machine Bottle Company:

1906 - Brockway Machine Bottle Company is formed in town.

1907 - The company is incorporated in New York on June 20.  The first glass bottle is pressed, blown, and "annealed."

1925 - Began embossing the 'B in a circle' mark on its bottles.

1933 - Brockway Machine Bottle Co. merged with Brockway Sales Co. to become Brockway Glass Company.  Began manufacturing prescription glass bottles.

1941 - Brockway's 2nd bottle manufacturing plant begins operation (though now it's known as factory #19).

1964 - Brockway Glass Co. doubles in size after purchasing six Hazel-Atlas glass bottle plants.

1985 - The company's headquarters is moved to Jacksonville, Florida.

1988 - Brockway Glass Co. is acquired by Owens-Illinois, and the giant corporation is now known as Owens-Brockway Glass Containers.

At some point in the 1940s, the trademark "Temperglas" began to be used (similar to "Duraglas" by Owens-Illinois) to denote a method of manufacturing that supposedly made the glass harder and more durable.

  1. Did Brockway Glass Co, also produce dishes/glasses in a "Sandwich Pattern"? I know that Hocking, Duncan Miller, and Indiana Glass produced "sandwich" items which are quite common. But I noticed a listing on eBay for a Brockway Glass Co. "sandwich" drinking glass/tumbler. Thank you

  4. Can someone tell me year of a jar? Markings on bottom are 1084 at top, raised dot on left, circled B in center, 7 on right and 150 at bottom.
